This guide will help you connect an Axis device to Azure Cognitive Services.
Compatible cameras
The Azure Cognitive Services integration currently supports cameras with system-on-chip ARTPEC-8 or CV25. To buy a camera, contact an Axis partner near you. To find a partner, go to our find-a-partner page on axis.com.

Sign in
In order to proceed, you need an account at Axis Communications website. Click the link to sign in or create a My Axis account:
Create an organization
An organization is where you connect and manage devices, and the access to them, in a hierarchical structure. The organization is also what controls the connection to applications like Azure Cognitive Service.
Follow these simple steps to create the organization:
Type the name of the organization. We recommend using the name of the customer or partner as the name of the organization.
- The application to enable is preset to Azure Cognitive Service.
Review the EULA and click the button assuring you have understood the terms and conditions.
Click Next
Register the device
Use the app AXIS Installer app to register devices to the organization. To download the app, go to Apple app store for iOS or Google Play for Android.
Once installed, follow these steps:
Launch the AXIS Installer app.
Sign in to your My Axis account.
Select the organization you’ve just created.
Use the app to scan the Owner Authentication Key of the device you would like to register. The key can be found in the box of the device you’ve purchased.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Register additional devices by repeating steps 4 and 5.
If you have lost your Owner Authentication Key (OAK), it is possible to retrieve it by logging in to the camera. Follow the instructions here: https://help.axis.com/en-us/axis-os#one-click-cloud-connection
Access the cameras
To access cameras from Azure Cognitive Services for Vision, you have to sign in to your My Axis account and give Vision Studio access to your cameras.
Go to Vision Studio in Azure.
Create a New video source
Follow the on-screen instructions.
